It’s been five years since former President George W. Bush left the White House — but half of Americans still say the economic woes are his fault, a new poll found.
A Washington Post-ABC News poll released this week said 50 percent of Americans say Mr. Bush is more responsible for the nation’s state of the economy than President Obama. Only 38 percent see Mr. Obama as the main responsible party. And another 7 percent both are equally at fault.
The poll, conducted Dec. 12-15 by telephone, was a random sampling of 1,005 adults and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
Its findings aren’t that surprising — given that the past two years’ worth of polling on the same question has found similarly, The Post reported.
At the same time, the poll also found that while 41 percent trusted Mr. Obama to do a better job of handling the economy, 45 percent trusted Republicans in Congress more with that issue.
