A breeding expert in China says that he’s found considerable success in enticing captive pandas to move the process along – by showing them something he deems “panda porn.”

It’s all in the name of science, it seems.

Huang Mingxiang of the Chengdu Research Base in China’s Sichuan province, an area in the southwestern part of the nation, said male and female pandas actually become more amorous after seeing videos of their breed breeding, United Press International reported.

The theory is that since the pandas have been born in captivity, or taken to captivity at early ages, they haven’t seen the breeding process firsthand. So the videos are actually teaching tools.

The female Ke Lin, 5, was the first to be trained by video and Mr. Huang said it was shortly after watching that “panda porn” that she actually mated with her male counterpart, Yong Yong, UPI reported.

Time magazine actually voted a picture of Ke Lin watching the video as its’ “Most Surprising Photos of 2013,” earlier this month.
