Rep. Steve Stockman, an outspoken Texas conservative who recently announced a bid for the Senate, wants supporters to chip in $10 for his campaign in exchange for an “Obama barf bag.”
The Republican’s pale-green bag, unveiled Tuesday, has President Obama’s smiling likeness on it.
“Obama’s socialism makes me sick! And I have the barf bag to prove it!” Mr. Stockman wrote in an open letter to people who visit his campaign website.
Mr. Stockman this month launched a last-minute primary challenge to Senate Minority Whip John Cornyn, Texas Republican, by portraying him as a “liberal Republican” who needs to be replaced next year with a true-blood conservative.
Yet some conservative groups quickly said they’ll stick by Mr. Cornyn, and private GOP polling obtained by Politico says Mr. Cornyn leads Mr. Stockman by 44 percentage points.
Mr. Stockman has hawked products with outrageous slogans before, including a campaign bumper sticker that says, “If babies had guns, they wouldn’t be aborted.”
