President Obama’s meeting Tuesday with executives from tech companies such as Apple and Google will focus in part on the flawed rollout of HealthCare.gov, the federal web portal tied to Obamacare.
The meeting is drawing attention because of a federal ruling on Monday that said the U.S. government’s tech-reliant snooping programs may violate the Constitution.
But the health care angle will bubble to the surface, too, Reuters reported, as the White House stares down a key deadline for people seeking coverage under the Affordable Care Act.
People who lack or lost insurance have until Monday to enroll in a health plan on one of the insurance markets tied to Obamacare if they want to be covered by Jan. 1.
The website got off to a rocky start after its Oct. 1 debut, hindering many would-be enrollees’ efforts to get covered in private health plans, often with the help of government subsidies.
The Obama administration says the federal site that serves 36 states is vastly improved, but Reuters said the president will seek advice on how to make it better.
