Claire Davis, the 17-year-old girl who was shot at her high school, is in a coma, struggling for life, and her family and followers have sent out this tweeted plea: “#PrayforClaire.”
The girl was shot in the head Friday at Arapahoe High School. On Monday, hospital officials still listed her condition as critical, CNN reported.
“Claire is a hero, our hero, she deserves to be rewarded not only with thanks, but with another chance at life,” said one Twitter follower, Aidan Loughran, CNN reported.
“Thank God for waking us up again and for keeping Claire through the night. Don’t forget to pray as we wake up this morning,” tweeted another, Jonathon Bailey.
Claire’s father said to CNN that his daughter is “not doing very well,” and that doctors are watching the swelling in her brain with concern.
“She is stable but is in a coma,” the family said, in a statement reported by CNN. “The first responders got Claire to the right place, at the right time, and the doctors and hospital staff are doing a wonderful job. … We appreciate your continued good thoughts and prayers and will provide updates as her condition improves.”
Police say the gunman was looking to shoot the librarian and shot Claire in a random act of violence.
