Rep. Darrell E. Issa is vowing to keep up the heat in the investigation into Operation Fast and Furious, which led to the death of Border Patrol Agent Brian A. Terry, until accountability is affixed and the family can get closure.
He made the promise in the lead-up to the third anniversary of Terry’s death, Dec. 15, Breitbart reported.
Mr. Issa, a California Republican who chairs the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, has said on several occasions that he believes Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. and President Obama are withholding key information on the Fast and Furious debacle that could shed light on Terry’s murder in Arizona, about 17 miles from the border with Mexico.
“I think the message that the entire family needs to hear because they’ve seen so many setbacks over the past three years is that we won’t give up, that we continue to support them and we continue supporting whistleblowers … because we’re going to get to the truths no matter how long it takes,” Mr. Issa said in the Breitbart report. “We’re in court, as you know, and it’s a slow process, but we’re going to be tenacious there. One thing that the Terry family should know is that the full truth and the corrections that will prevent this from ever happening again is our highest priority.”
Mr. Issa’s comments also came on the heels of the publication of a new book, “The Unarmed Truth,” by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosive agent who originally blew the whistle on Fast and Furious.
