NEW YORK (AP) - A federal judge says the owner of a public relations firm won’t have to testify for now at an arbitration proceeding for New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez.
Judge Edgardo Ramos in New York City ruled Friday that Michael Sitrick will not have to comply with a September subpoena while he appeals an order last month that he do so. Sitrick is the head of the public relations firm Sitrick & Co. The company had worked on Rodriguez’s behalf this year.
The ruling makes it less likely Major League Baseball can use evidence from Sitrick to argue for enforcement of its 211-game suspension of Rodriguez for alleged violations of baseball’s drug agreement and labor contract. Rodriguez is challenging the suspension.
