You might protect Queen Elizabeth II, but that doesn’t mean you can eat her mixed nuts. That’s the message that was sent to royal protection officers when the she noticed a shortage of snacks on hand.
The “furious” queen told the officers to “keep their sticky fingers” out of her treats, according to documents that were released during the phone-hacking trial of the now-defunct News of the World.
During the trial it was even intimated that the queen began marking bowls to try to catch the nut thieves, Business Insider reported. The contents of one email made available to jurors read, “The Queen is furious about police stealing bowls of nuts and nibbles left out for her in the apartments in the BP [Buckingham Palace] Queen’s corridor.
When jurors laughed at the lengths to which the queen allegedly went to stop her guards from grabbing her snacks, Judge John Saunders interjected, “These are unproven allegations.”
