An Italian book that teaches new wives how to be submissive has become a huge hit in Spain, angering feminists who have called for it to be banned.
“Cásate y sé sumisa,” which translates to “Get Married and Be Submissive,” was authored by Costanza Miriano and quickly became a bestseller in Italy after it was published in November, the Telegraph reported.
“Loyal obedience, generosity and submission” are key elements to a fulfilling marriage, the book suggests.
It also offers advice for new wives on how to please their husbands.
Women “like humiliation because it is for a greater good,” she argues in one passage, according to the Telegraph.
“It’s true, you’re not yet an experienced cook or a perfect housewife,” she writes. “What’s the problem if he tells you so? Tell him that he is right, that it’s true, that you will learn. On seeing your sweetness and your humility, your effort to change, this will also change him.”
Feminists in Spain staged a public demonstration against the book, which is currently a bestseller on Amazon in the country, the Telegraph reported.
