Washington, D.C., authorities say a man pulled from the Potomac River near the southwest section of the city is believed to be that of disgraced police officer Marc Washington, recently arrested for child pornography charges.
The man’s condition is unclear, The New York Daily News reported.
Police Chief Cathy Lanier said Tuesday evening that it would take hours before an official identification could be made, NBC reported. But other sources tell the news outlet that the body of Washington was pulled out of the water and taken to a hospital.
Washington was arrested last week on charges after police said they suspected he visited the home of a 15-year-old girl, ordered her to take off her clothes, then allegedly snapped photographs of her — all while on duty, NBC reported. The girl then told her mother what occurred, and Mr. Washington was arrested.
He was released on bail Monday evening, but ordered to wear a GPS monitoring device.
NBC reported that Washington still had the GPS device when he was reportedly pulled from the river.
