George Zimmerman’s girlfriend has changed her mind and now wants a judge to drop the charges she filed against him for aggravated assault, battery and criminal mischief.

Mr. Zimmerman, who was arrested last month for alleged violence against his girlfriend, filed the affidavit from his girlfriend Samantha Scheibe on Monday, The Associated Press reported. In it, Ms. Scheibe calls Mr. Zimmerman “my boyfriend” and says that detectives misinterpreted her earlier statements.

Last month, she accused Mr. Zimmerman of pointing a gun at her and smashing a coffee table, before pushing her outside their apartment.

Now, she says, in her affidavit: “I am not afraid of George in any manner and I want to be with him,” AP reported. She also said she wasn’t coerced to make the statement.

The court does not need a witness to proceed with domestic violence charges. It’s not clear yet what direction prosecutors will take on the affidavit.

But Mr. Zimmerman’s attorney, Jayne Weintraub, said in the AP report she hoped “prosecutors will take a good hard look at this and take the target off of George’s back and drop the charges.”

A hearing will be scheduled in the future to debate the merits of the affidavit, she said.
