Saudi Arabia police arrested two foreigners on Friday who are believed to have ties to an al Qaeda offshoot in Yemen that was plotting a suicide attack in the region.
The Saudi Interior Ministry said one of the suspects is Yemeni and the other a Chadian, The Associated Press reported. The Chadian had been previously deported from Saudi but was found in-country, with a different passport, AP reported.
The Saudi Press Agency said the two suspects had shared information online with the Yemen-based al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula branch, under code names to plot “imminent suicide operations in the region.”
The statement from the Interior Ministry didn’t detail information about “imminent” attack, including which country it was supposed to target, but said the investigation was continuing.
