Newt Gingrich’s former wife, Jacqueline Gingrich, died in Atlanta at the age of 77, a funeral home in Georgia stated on Friday.
An obituary on the Carrollton, Ga., Almon Funeral Home’s website said Ms. Gingrich was the oldest of four children. She taught math at various high schools located in the southern region of Georgia and is survived by two daughters and two grandchildren, The Associated Press reported.
She died on Wednesday, the funeral home said. But her causes of death were not specified.
Ms. Gingrich was the former House Speaker’s wife until 1981, when they divorced. Mr. Gingrich married his second wife Marianne six months later, amid a swirl of talk about his alleged infidelities.
