The younger brother of former Mass. Sen. Scott Brown was arrested Thursday evening for impersonating a police officer and commandeering a boat, while dressed in tactical gear and carrying several handguns.
Bruce Brown, 46, was found about 6:30 p.m. in Connecticut, wearing military garb and touting three 9 mm handguns in his Crown Victoria car. He was also carrying a loaded 9 mm pistol, The Associated Press reported.
Local law enforcement said in the AP report he “commandeered” a boat, after identifying himself as a Coast Guard officer. He then started to stop other boats and demand the occupants show their registrations and boater safety certificates, AP said.
Police further detailed: Mr. Brown was found wearing a black bullet proof vest that displayed the word “Police” on both front and back, carrying a Transportation Security Agency badge, AP reported.
He was charged with impersonating an officer, with breach of peace, with interfering with an officer during the course of duty and of possessing a dangerous weapon in a car. He was released on $50,000 bail and given a court hearing of Aug. 22.
