Three people in two states came forward Thursday as the lucky winners of the massive $448 million Powerball lottery prize.

“We had three grand-prize winners,” said Sue Dooley, an official with the Multi-State Lottery Association, in The Associated Press. “One was in Minnesota and two were in New Jersey.”

The winning numbers selected Wednesday evening: 05, 25, 30, 58, 59 and Powerball 32.

The Newark, N.J., local newspaper, The Star-Ledger, reported that one state lottery spokeswoman said one of the tickets was purchased at a South Brunswick grocery and the other, ibn Little Egg Harbor. Minnesota officials didn’t have immediate information about the winning ticket-holder.

Powerball jackpots have grown considerably in recent years.

“Many years ago, $100 million was really exciting and people would immediately buy more. Occasional players would start buying,” said Tom Romero, CEO of the New Mexico Lottery and chairman of the Powerball Group, in AP. “Then the threshold was $200 million. Now, we see here in New Mexico, we’re approaching the $300 million mark” before participation really escalates.
