Talk about a tense home life. A married couple in small-town Maine will fight each other for the same Waterville Ward 1 position.

David Johnson was nominated to the slot on Wednesday evening by the Waterville Republican City Committee caucus. His wife, Jennifer Johnson, was nominated a week earlier by the Waterville Democratic City Committee caucus, The Associated Press reported.

The two have been married for a decade and find common ground on most issues — but rarely discuss politics, Mrs. Johnson said, in the AP reported.

The winner of the November election may not actually serve for very long. Voters are set to decide on Nov. 6 if the city should quit its warden elections.
