An opportunistic thief stole a $3,000 Rolex watch from actor James Gandolfini’s Rome hotel room within hours after “The Sopranos” star died, family sources said.

The Rolex submariner watch was swiped from his Boscolo Exedra Hotel room on June 19, according to an insurance form obtained by TMZ.

The insurance papers don’t list a suspect, but it was implied that the thief made off with the watch in the commotion that erupted inside his room once the actor was found.

The 51-year-old New Jersey native, who played Tony Soprano in HBO’s hit TV series, died of a sudden heart attack and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

TMZ speculates that the Rolex in question could be the one Mr. Gandolfini sported at the “Nicky Deuce” premiere in May.
