After nearly four decades of on-time performance at work, “Today” host Al Roker slipped: He hit his snooze button on his alarm clock one too many times Tuesday and missed his morning weather show.
“After 39 years, it happened. I overslept and missed a show,” the NBC weatherman tweeted later in the morning. “Missed #WUWA. But will be on time for @today.”
He quickly turned his mistake into a social media public relations boost for the network, however, asking his Twitter followers to share their own oversleeping stories.
Hundreds did. His co-hosts, meanwhile, took time out from their morning routine to poke fun.
“Whoa. You know those people you can set your watch to? The always on time people? @roker used to be one of them,” tweeted NBC’s Savannah Guthrie.
Matt Lauer tweeted a picture of a sharp-dressed Mr. Roker with the caption “RIP Van Roker.”
