Former Massachusetts Rep. Barney Frank made some surprising revelations Friday night on “Real Time With Bill Maher,” implying that he’s a “pot-smoking atheist.”

Mr. Maher suggested that the Democrat surely feels more “liberated” now that he’s out of the public eye.

“I don’t have to worry that when the phone rings it’s somebody whose screwed something up and it’s my responsibility to un-screw it,” Mr. Frank replied.

“And you were not one of those congresspeople who have to worry about every little thing,” the comedian added. “You could come on this show and sit next to a pot-smoking atheist, and it wouldn’t bother you.”

“Well, I — which pot-smoking atheist were you talking about?” Mr. Frank replied, insinuating that he could be generalized as such.

“Boy, you are liberated,” Mr. Maher joked.
