FBI agents joined an investigation Wednesday into the assault of a National Park Service worker who was left unconscious, laying on the ground near a restroom in the Chiricahua Mountains in Arizona.
The worker, 60, is in critical condition, The Associated Press reported.
Few details are known about the attack. The Cochise County Sheriff’s office in the southeastern part of the state said the woman was discovered Wednesday afternoon with some sort of injury to the head. She was airlifted to a Tucson hospital and has been stabilized but is still considered in critical shape, AP said.

Sheriff Mark Dannels with the Cochise County department said local authorities are working with both state and federal officials to “identify the suspect(s) who apparently seriously injured a federal employee.”
