Taliban fighters ambushed a group of Afghan police officers riding in a convoy on a main highway, killing 15 and injuring another 10, a province spokesman said Thursday.
The attack took place in the western Farah province, The Associated Press reported.
The Taliban militants were able to escape unharmed.
The convoy attack came on the heels of another rocket attack that left six truck drivers dead, AP said. The truck drivers were carting fuel for coalition forces. The rocket assault also destroyed dozens of trucks.
The Taliban have ratcheted up attacks in the past few months in anticipation of coalition troop withdrawal.
