A Boston condominium owner says management can threaten and fine him all they want — he’s not taking down his 6-by-10-foot American flag that’s hanging in his window.

Mark DiGiovanni, 52, could be fined $25 per day for breaking the condo’s “white curtains only” policy, the Boston Herald reported. But he doesn’t care, he said.

Management sent a “gentle reminder” on Monday, advising that the penalties start racking up on Tuesday. But Mr. DiGiovanni said that he’s got the 2005 federal Freedom to Display the American Flag Act on his side and that the management of his Fort Point home can’t force him to tear it down, the Herald reported.

The condo management team’s response?

Association trustee Sean McGrail said that Mr. DiGiovanni is possessed of “fake patriotism” and that management is only responding to a complaint.
