CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Stewart-Haas Racing has called a Tuesday news conference amid reports Kurt Busch is joining the team.
Busch told both Fox Sports and ESPN on Monday he signed a multi-year deal to join SHR. The 2004 NASCAR champion did not immediately return a message from The Associated Press.
Busch recently received an offer from SHR co-owner Gene Haas to leave Furniture Row Racing and join a team that will expand next season to four cars. He’ll be teammates with co-owner Tony Stewart, Danica Patrick and Kevin Harvick, who is replacing Ryan Newman in the lineup.
Stewart said last month that Newman was being let go because SHR did not have the capability to expand to four cars. Haas is funding Busch’s ride out of his own pocket.
