Business mogul Donald Trump lashed back on Monday at the New York attorney general who’s suing him for $40 million over his Trump University, calling him nothing more than a political player who’s reached out to the tycoon for money and donations on numerous occasions.
“He sits up in my office asking me for campaign contributions, he’s been there numerous times. He’s a political hack. He figures by going after Trump, he can get some publicity, which he will get, but we’ll try and make it uncomfortable as possible,” Mr. Trump said, on “Fox & Friends.”
He was speaking of Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, who announced over the weekend that he’s launching a suit against Mr. Trump for fraud over claims that Trump University could help students get rich. Mr. Scheiderman announced the lawsuit after a private meeting with President Obama — another facet that Mr. Trump finds suspect.
“They meet on Thursday evening,” Mr. Trump said, Politico reported. “I get sued by this A.G. Schneiderman. I get sued on Saturday at one o’clock. Think of it. What government agency in the history of this country has ever brought a suit on a Saturday? I never heard of such a thing.”
He went on: The lawsuit is “incompetent” and “terribly drawn,” and the Obama administration is likely to see another scandal from it.
“They obviously did it very quickly, but probably Obama — maybe this is a mini IRS. Maybe we have to get the tea party after these people because this could very well be a mini IRS,” Mr. Trump said.
