A 10-year-old Houston, Texas, girl is facing charges for the rape of a 4-year-old boy after playing an alleged game of “Doctor” with a group of neighborhood children.

The girl was charged with aggravated sexual assault for inappropriately touching the 4-year-old boy, CBS Houston reported.

“I’ve never dealt with a child this young being accused of a crime,” Quanell X, who is working with the family, told the station. “In fact, this was nothing more than inappropriate horseplay that has now led to a child that is 10 years old being charged with aggravated rape.”

The fourth-grader, who was identified only as Ashley, was held for four days in the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center in June.

“It’s a nightmare even having to go through something like this, because that’s my baby,” her mother told the station, adding that she was not allowed to observe the 45-minute questioning of her daughter.

Ashley’s hearing will be in October, CBS Houston reported.
