NBC’s “Today” host Jenna Wolfe, who came out publicly a few months ago about her gay engagement to partner Stephanie Gosk and their subsequent pregnancy, had a new announcement this week: It’s a healthy girl.
Ms. Wolfe delivered the baby Wednesday night and soon after tweeted the photos, the Los Angeles Times reported.
“Fell madly in love w Harper Estelle tonight,” read a tweet accompanying a picture of the 7-pound, 13-ounce newborn. “Thx for the kinds words and well wishes. Other than that I’m speechless.”
The girl is named Harper Estelle Wolfeld Gosk, a combination of Ms. Gosk’s last name and Ms. Wolfe’s legal last name, Wolfeld. She was born at 7:31 p.m., People magazine reported.
Ms. Gosk followed on Thursday with her own tweet and accompanying photograph: “Harper meets a set of grandparents … And has very little to say about it.”
Ms. Wolfe said Estelle was her grandmother’s name, the Times reported.
“No matter what, we were always going to have Estelle and we fell in love with the Harper. It’s the perfect combination of athleticism, gentleness, kindness, beauty and a little TV moxie, so we figured it was perfect,” Ms. Wolfe told People.
The couple had announced in March they were expecting. On Monday, Ms. Wolfe sent this note to her baby, via a pregnancy blog: “Dear Baby Girl: I hate to rush you, but do you mind moving things along a little? Despite the fact that our due date isn’t for another week and a half, I thought we had a plan, me and you. I thought you were going to show up early, be swarmed by loving friends and family, nurse to your heart’s content and enjoy the fruits of your labor? (Get it? Labor?) You’ve been hinting at it for the last few days …”
