The North Carolina chapter of the NAACP has created a guidebook for members of the clergy to cite biblical verses that prove socialist governance is based on God’s will.

The “Christian Socialism” handbook is a frequent tool of at least one North Carolina reverend, William Barber, who cites its contents to denounce state Republicans for “trying to move the state backwards” with voter ID laws, Breitbart reported. The governor recently signed that bit of legislation into law.

Mr. Barber frequently heads the state NAACP’s Moral Monday rallies, touting “Christian Socialism” as a path toward achieving the group’s guiding philosophy: “Forward together, not one step back.”

The guidebook contains Bible verses that provide “an alternative paradigm for interpersonal and communal engagement that can serve as a critical rejoinder to the policies of our state government,” its text states.
