I can’t see why there’s debate and hand-wringing over continuing U.S. aid to Egypt’s military (“Calls grow louder in Congress to make good on threat, cut aid to Egyptian military,” Web, Aug. 18).

For more than 30 years, Egypt has been an ally; for even longer, the Muslim Brotherhood has hated us. If anything, we should be increasing our support to the Egyptian military. The Muslim Brotherhood murdered Egyptian President Anwar Sadat. That’s why deposed President Hosni Mubarak wisely suppressed it.

Ousted Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi was democratically elected. If Mr. Morsi gets restored to power, all future “elections” in Egypt will be like the ones in Iran and Zimbabwe.

There are reports of women and children being killed in the ongoing protests. That’s no surprise; the cowards in groups such as the Brotherhood use women and children as their flak jackets.
