SOUTH BEND, IND. (AP) - Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly says a new contract for him is imminent.

Kelly says the basic deal for a contract has been in place since December, when the Irish were preparing for the BCS title game against Alabama.

Kelly also said Friday that the Irish know that last year’s success won’t help them win this year, but he hopes the culture that the team is developing will. Kelly says the Irish have worked hard to put themselves back into the national spotlight and have no intention of giving that up.

The Irish start practicing Monday at a facility in Marion, a central Indiana city about 100 miles southeast of the Notre Dame campus, away from distractions.
