The death count from a ferry that crashed and sunk off the coast of the Philippines hit 52 on Monday as emergency responders found more bodies and brought them to shore.
Navy divers have been searching for victims and survivors from the ferry after it collided with a cargo ship and sank Friday. The incident occurred in the Mactan Channel, which is about two miles from the city of Cebu. An estimated 870 passengers and crew were aboard at the time, United Press International reported.
Another 68 were still missing on Monday, CNN reported. All the remaining had been rescued.
Lt. Cmdr. Gregory Fabic, a Philippines navy spokesman, said more divers are on the way to help with the search- and-retrieval process.
