Hannah Anderson, the 16-year-old California teen who was abducted by a suspect who’s also believed to have murdered her mother and brother, attended a fundraiser Thursday, her first public appearance since police shot and killed James DiMaggio in the wilderness of Idaho where the pair was discovered.
Cameras captured her entering a restaurant near San Diego, but she didn’t immediately speak, NBC reported.
“Right now, she’s with her family and, of course, with some friends and she’s just happy to be here,” her father, Brett Anderson, told reporters outside the restaurant. “Hannah sends her love. She’s doing good day by day. We’ll just keep moving forward from here.”
Her public appearance came as the court released new details about items they discovered in suspect DiMaggio’s home. Among the findings, NBC reported: Firebombs, ammunition, used condoms, something called “arson wire” and “letters from Hannah.” The court documents didn’t detail the content of the letters.
Search warrants unsealed this week show police believe DiMaggio “tortured and killed” Hannah’s mother, Christina Anderson, 40, and her 8-year-old brother, Ethan, before burning down his cabin-style home in Boulevard.
