A progressive tiff that’s hit the media circuit is pitting Keith Olbermann against his former Current TV boss, Al Gore, with the fired broadcaster issuing a scathing assessment of the former vice-president’s political prowess: He’s “a clod.”

Mr. Olbermann goes on, The Hollywood Reporter said: “When you’re working for somebody whom you admired politically, who turns out to be a clod, the scales fall from your eyes. Sorry. Al underdelivered. I mean, that’s simply the case. I don’t want to dwell on it, but it’s true.”

Mr. Olbermann, 54, is returning to ESPN, after a stint at Current TV that left him bitter. He was sent packing from his anchor chair and sued. He ultimately settled with the network in 2012, The Hill reported. Mr. Olbermann was also fired from his hosting duties at MSNBC.

His new ESPN show is due to kick off Aug. 26.
