Israeli military heads say they intercepted a rocket that was heading toward the resort town of Eilat near the border with Egypt on Tuesday.
Nobody was injured in the attack, Israeli Defense Forces said, via Twitter.
An air-raid siren alerted nearby residents of the Red Sea town of an incoming rocket, the Los Angeles Times reported. Two explosions followed, and tourists ran to seek shelter. The rocket is believed to have been launched by militants who are in Sinai, IDF said.
The Iron Dome fired an interceptor and successfully shot the rocket out of the sky.
The rocket attack comes at a time of heightening tension along the Israeli-Egyptian border.
