Anthony Weiner acknowledged Monday that his sexting scandals have hurt his wife both personally and professionally — and then he turned around and let slip a statement that could hamper her career once again.
He was asked during a live chat with Buzzfeed if he had any ideas what his wife Huma Abedin, who works for Hillary Rodham Clinton, “was going be doing on Hillary’s 2016 campaign.” His reply: “I do.”
Weiner was then asked what his wife would be doing for the campaign, his answer suggesting even greater mystery.
“I’m not telling you,” he said.
Philippe Reines, a spokesman for Mrs. Clinton was forced to address the matter, telling the New York Post that he had “no clue” what Mr. Weiner was talking about. Meanwhile, Mo Elleithee, a former top adviser to Mrs. Clinton, was just hired as the Democratic National Committee chief communications aide, the Post reported.
Mr. Weiner said he hasn’t spoken to either of the Clintons “in months.” He further acknowledged this his sexting scandals has hurt his wife.
“It has hurt her professionally,” he said. “It has hurt her personally.”
