Twelve soldiers at Fort Carson in Colorado were struck by lightning Wednesday afternoon, and at least one is still in critical condition.

Army spokesmen said lightning hit just south of the Butts Army Airfield, The Associated Press reported. The soldiers had been training, but were actually heading to a nearby shelter when they were hit by a lightning bolt.

One is considered in critical condition, while the other 11 are stable, an Army official said in the AP report.
