North Korea on Tuesday issued a stark warning to tourists and to foreign companies in the South: Get out. Go home.
Officials said all outsiders should evacuate because the two nations are on the cusp of nuclear war, The Associated Press reported.
Military experts aren’t taking the threat, which came from the country’s Asia-Pacific Peace Committee, so seriously, however. Observers say it’s akin to past rhetoric from North Korea — all talk and no action, AP reported. And it’s only aimed at putting the world on edge in order to win policy concessions with Washington, D.C., and with South Korea, and at the same time boost North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s stature.
North Korea issued a similar threat last week, by saying it could not guarantee the safety of diplomats serving in South Korea.
