Cindy McCain, the wife of Sen. John McCain, is hitting the stage with a role in next month’s Herberger Theater Center production of a play about Proposition 8, the California same-sex-marriage case that’s woven its way to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Mrs. McCain — along with daughter Meghan — is a strong supporter of gay marriage and appeared in 2008 ads opposing Proposition 8 in which her mouth was duct-taped and her face marked with the tag: NoH8. The tag line of the ad was “No on Prop 8.”

In May at the Herberger in Phoenix, Mrs. McCain will play one of the plaintiffs in the case, BuzzFeed reported. Appearing alongside her will be the wife of Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton, lawyer Nicole Stanton.

The production, which BuzzFeed reported is part of a national tour with similar “8” readings set for other cities, stars several high-profile names: Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Martin Sheen and Jamie Lee Curtis, to name a few.
