The State Department has announced that it will award up to $300,000 for “workforce development” in Serbia.
The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), which is overseen by the State Department, is calling for the submission of “Concept Papers for specific activities related to workforce development (WFD) in Serbia,” according to the announcement posted on the agency’s website.
The request for funding “cannot exceed 300,000 USD,” the agency said.
The current national unemployment rate in Serbia is 25 percent, although the rate among youth is nearly 50 percent or greater in many communities, the announcement said.
“USAID would like to identify ways in which collaboration with the private sector can improve workforce development in Serbia and provide the country with the mix of human capital needed to promote broad-based economic growth, accelerate the transition of the Serbian economy and support the EU integration process,” the announcement reads.
