ST. LOUIS (AP) - The St. Louis Cardinals have activated third baseman David Freese from the 15-day disabled list in time for Monday’s home opener against the Cincinnati Reds.
Freese suffered a lower back strain toward the end of spring training and missed the first six games of the season in Arizona and San Francisco. He appeared in three games with Triple-A Memphis on a rehab assignment. He was 3-for-5 with two RBIs Sunday against Oklahoma City.
The Cardinals optioned infielder Ryan Jackson to Memphis to make room.
