Trustees at Indiana University reported this week that a study on how to properly use condoms had been completed — and that funding for the research had come from federal stimulus dollars, to the tune of $423,500.
The Weekly Standard said the study was called “Barriers to Correct Condom Use.”
A government website described the rationale for the study this way: “Sexually transmitted infections, including human immunodeficiency virus, post significant health risks. Consistent and correct use of condoms can be a highly effective method of preventing the transmission of HIV and many STIs, yet studies show that problems with condom use are common. This project is one of the first to examine under controlled conditions the role of cognitive and affective factors and condom skills in explaining condom use problems in young, heterosexual adult men.”
The federal government said no jobs were created under the taxpayer-funded stimulus study, The Weekly Standard reported.
