Actor Gerard Depardieu couldn’t make it to court for his drunken driving charges because he was just too busy, his attorney said.

He was on the set and filming a movie in the United States — with none other than former International Monetary Fund head Dominique Strauss-Kahn, attorney Eric de Caumont told the judge, The Associated Press reported.

This is the second hearing the actor has skipped, AP said. The charges stem from a November incident in which Mr. Depardieu fell off his scooter in the middle of Paris and was subsequently charged with driving while drunk.

Mr. Depardieu has grabbed the attention of international media of late for his threat to renounce his French citizenship due to high taxation and become a citizen of Russia.
