A day after President Obama and Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel announced they will donate 5 percent of their paychecks to the Treasury, Secretary of State John Kerry is following suit, vowing to donate 5 percent of his $183,500 salary.

State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said Mr. Kerry will give $9,175 to a charity for department employees, rather than the Treasury, according to the Huffington Post.

The former Massachusetts senator was worth more than $184 million at the time of his 2011 Senate financial disclosure form.

His wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry, heiress to the Heinz ketchup fortune, is reportedly worth more than $1 billion.
