Blame it on the weather. The final two sections for the 408-foot spire that’s supposed to top the One World Trade Center couldn’t be delivered on Monday, as scheduled, because of rainy conditions, Port Authority officials said.
The addition of the sections will make the center the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, CNN reported.
The pieces weigh almost 6 tons. They’re made of stainless steel and, once put in place, will bring the height of the building to 1,776 feet, the Port Authority said.
The spire is functional, too. It will serve as a broadcasting site, owned by One World Trade Center, CNN said.
