A male high school student shot himself in class on Monday, an apparent suicide attempt that took staff and students by surprise, police said.
The Associated Press reported the La Salle High School student was taken to the hospital. The shooter did not threaten anyone else, AP said.
La Salle is an all-male parochial school.
“[The] student produced a gun inside one of the classrooms and shot himself, and we’re dealing with that now,” Green Township Police Chief Bart West said, AP reported.
Chief West had no other information, except to confirm that staffers and students were all safe. The identity of the student is not being released.
