Looking for a job? Stonehenge, the mysterious rock formation that served as a monument to the ancients – it’s believed — needs a manager.
The pay is $99,229 a year, Newser reported. And the job description calls for the successful candidate to have a proven ability to lead the monument “into a new era,” ABC News reported.
More job duties: Provide customer service. Oversee 80 staffers and 100 volunteers. Manage the new visitor center. And plan special tourist events for the summer and winter solstice months, the groups that manages Britain’s historic sites, the English Heritage, said in a statement.
May 5 is the deadline to apply.
The site, already mysterious, was just in the news again – for a new mystery. Scientists and researchers found what they believe to be an ancient hunting ground about a mile from the Stonehenge site, and say their discovery of flint tools, bones and evidence of fires shows that people from all over congregated there. It could be a “sacred hunting ground” in fact, researchers said, in a LiveScience report. And it may have been used for that purpose 5,000 years before Stonehenge was even built.
“We may have found the cradle of Stonehenge,” one researcher said, in the report.
