Nepalese police have arrested an Iranian carrying a fake Israeli passport, possibly thwarting a terror attack against the Israel Embassy in Katmandu.
Police said the man also was plotting to attack Israelis who were vacationing in Nepal, United Press International reported.
In custody is Mohsin Khosravian, UPI said. He initially was detained by Israeli personnel at the embassy in Katmandu on April 13 for carrying a fake passport and a map. He then was turned over to Nepalese law enforcement officials, who arrested him and launched an investigation, UPI said.
He’s made “frequent and suspicious visits” to the embassy, Nepal police said. He likely obtained the fake passport in Kuala Lumpur, they added, in UPI.
Mr. Khosravian has resided since 2004 in Bangkok, UPI reported.
