An activist posting on the online petition platform Change.org has obtained more than 2,000 signatures on a letter to President Obama to give “wrongfully accused” Boston bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev a fair trial.
The petition, created by activist Anita Temishiva, also expresses dismay that brother Tamerlan Tsarnaev was killed without a trial.
As for the surviving brother, who’s under guard at a Boston hospital, there’s no evidence to convict him, the petition claims, as The Daily Caller reported. He’s been accused of a crime he didn’t commit, and the president needs to step in and ensure he gets a “fair trial,” the petition states, The Daily Caller reported.
The Daily Caller reported the petition states: “We believe that within the chaos caused by the Boston Marathon explosion, two young men were wrongfully accused of something they did not do, and one of them has lost his life before even getting the opportunity of a proper trial. We do not wish to see blood of yet another innocent victim, someone who, by U.S. law, is innocent until proven guilty.
The petition also calls for an end to “this persecution” — and suggests it’s obviously persecution because of “all the conflicting information shown by the media and footage from the incident,” the petition reads.
It doesn’t “manifest itself as enough evidence to condemn Dzhokhar Tsarnaeve of this heinous crime,” the petition reads. And to Mr. Obama, petitioners say: “You promised to the world that you would get to the bottom of this, and we hope you keep your word. We want evidence. We want truth. We want justice,” The Daily Caller reported.
