Portions of the Mississippi River have been closed to allow investigators to determine if a barge that collide with a bridge and sank now presents a safety hazard for other ships navigating the waters.
The bridge outside Vicksburg, Miss., called the old U.S. Highway 80 railroad bridge, was hit by several barges after the line that was towing them broke, The Associated Press reported.
An estimated 30 barges drifted, while one sank. Most have since been rounded up, the Coast Guard reported.
But on Monday, investigators were still looking at the sunken barge to see if it posed a hazard for other craft navigating the waters.
The barges were being towed by the boat Captain Buck Lay, AP reported.
