Top Chinese military officials are taking seriously the possibility for North Korea to conduct a fourth nuclear test.

It could soon happen, warned Gen. Fang Fenghui, chief of the General Staff, The Associated Press reported. Gen. Fang also said Beijing would oppose another test and wants to work with negotiators from around the world to put a halt to it, AP reported.

His comments came after a meeting with U.S. Army Gen. Martin E. Dempsey, during which Gen. Fang reassured the American officer — who’s making his first trip to China in his role as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff — that the nation was not to blame for recent cybersecurity hacks.

Gen. Fang didn’t say when North Korea might conduct the test.
