Boston Police Commissioner Edward Davis called the cooperation and coordination between his department, state police and the FBI in pursuing the Boston bombing suspects “flawless.”
“We were on the same table,” Mr. Davis told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” program Monday. “State police were doing what we said, we were doing what state police said, the FBI was bringing up intelligence.”
Mr. Davis said the decision to lockdown the Boston area Friday when authorities were closing in on suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, was the right call.
“It was based solely on public safety,” he said. “We were trying to limit the number of people killed or injured, and when you’ve got an active bomber that was running around the city … I think it the right decision.”
The commissioner said the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearm is working closely with the FBI to determine where Mr. Tsarnaev, 19, and his older brother, Tamerlan — who was killed in a shootout with police last week — acquired their weapons.
Mr. Davis added that while he couldn’t talk about specifics in the investigation, he was confident authorities have apprehended or killed those responsible for the bombings that killed three and injured more than 170 during the Boston Marathon April 15.

“The people of the city of Boston can rest comfortably at this point in time,” he said.
